My story:
My son was barely 1 year old. I had wondered what was going on with him as he had execema under his neck and a rash. I had taken him to a few different doctors and begin to wonder what was happening. He was diagnosed with a peanut / tree nut allergy.
Since this diagnosis was so new to me and overwhelming I was scared and just not sure what to do. So I did what I do best, talking to others and finding out what I can do! I called anyone and everyone to see what sort of help was out there. I felt every kind of emotion you can feel.
I then decided "I can" do this and that NO one should be handed an epi pen and told "good luck" to you.
Thus the start of West Metro Food Allergy Connection in 2007. I wanted everyone to know that there is some help to figure all of this out and to help people understand and not to be afraid of using and epi pen.
I have since had another son who is allergic to peanut/tree nuts/ raw eggs (ranch dressing, ice cream, etc.) and sunflower seeds.
